Currently, Tata Motors is showing great activity in the expansion of CNG fueled vehicles. Recently the company launched the CNG version of their hatchback Altroz. This time another new CNG model is going to be added to the company’s portfolio. That is – Tata Punch CNG. There were many speculations about the launch of the car for a long time. This time the company has unofficially started taking advance bookings for the car at selected dealerships. It will be Tata’s fourth CNG model.
Tata Punch CNG advance booking has started
Vinay Panth, chief marketing officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said that they currently have an 8 percent share in the CNG vehicle market. Tata is aiming to reach 25 percent by 2030. So they keep introducing CNG models one after another. Again the target of becoming a zero carbon emission car company by 2040 has been set. Tata showcased three electric vehicle concept models at the Auto Expo this year – Harrier, Sierra and Avinya.
Nexon manufacturers will introduce these models in the market in the next two to three years. But before that, Punch EV may hit the market in 2023. Talking about the Tata Punch CNG, it has a 1.2 liter petrol engine with dual cylinder CNG technology to provide power. CNG kit will be attached with two 30 liter cylinders. This will increase the boot space. As a result, more items can be kept. CNG mode will get 76 bhp of power and 97 Nm of torque output. A 5-speed manual gearbox is available to match the motor. Mileage may be 26-27 km.
Every model in the Tata Punch lineup may be offered with the CNG kit. The i-CNG badge will be noticeable on the rear gate. There is no change in the design, interior and features of the micro SUV. Like the petrol model, it also gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity, 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, driver seat height adjustment, rearview camera and auto climate control.
