Recently the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI released the monthly performance report of telecom companies. Whereas Reliance Jio has added 3.06 million (30.6 lakh) active users in April 2024. After that, Jio's total active users reached 433.42 million (43.342 crore). And Jio's total number of subscribers has reached 472.42 million (47.242 crore).
Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel's wireless subscriber base grew by 0.75 million (7.5 lakh), however, their users declined by 2.09 million (20.9 lakh) in April. The total subscriber base of the telco then reached 386.52 million (38.652 crore), while the number of active users stood at 383.32 million (38.332 crore).
Meanwhile, once again, Vodafone Idea's active users as well as their total number of users declined this month as well. Their current active user count has come down to 192.64 million (19.264 crore) as April saw a decline of 0.63 million (6.3 lakh) active users. Again, the total number of wireless users of Vi also decreased to 219.08 million (21.908 crore) as of the end of April 2024 by 0.73 million (7.3 lakh) users.
Meanwhile, regarding Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited i.e. BSNL, TRAI said that this telecom operator lost 0.33 million (3.3 lakh) users to stand at 47.84 million (4.784 crore) active users at the end of April. Also, the total number of users dropped to 87.02 million (8.702 crore).
Also, the wireless market share of Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL stood at 40.40 per cent, 33.12 per cent, 18.77 per cent and 7.46 per cent respectively, according to the TRAI report.
Incidentally, very soon Reliance Jio's subscriber base will reach 500 million (50 crores). And with that Airtel will also try to cross 400 million (40 crores). However, Vodafone Idea and BSNL need to start providing better quality 4G/5G services soon to solve the problem of continuous subscriber decline.
