Suzuki has introduced their new generation Swift in the German market. The same model was earlier showcased by the company in Japan and UK markets as well. It is estimated that Maruti Suzuki will launch this version of Swift in the Indian market as well. According to the report, the new version of Swift can enter the Indian market by March-April this year.
The new generation Suzuki Swift has only appeared in a hybrid powertrain option. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83 bhp of power. A 12 volt mild hybrid system connected to the motor. This car can be selected with manual or CVT automatic transmission options. All-Grip all-wheel drive system option is available.
The new generation Swift, sharp yet classy design has been updated. It gets sleeker LED headlights than before, with integrated LED DRLs. Again there is innovation in the design of the rear bumper. It also has new design fog lamps. Its bonnet is also brand new. 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels are also provided.
Instead of hidden door handles, the latest version of Swift gets traditional door handles. Notable features in the cabin include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and new sleek looking rectangular AC vents. The Indian version of the Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to not offer a mild hybrid like in Japan. However, the local model will be offered with both manual and automatic transmissions.
The upcoming version of the Swift has less power and torque than the current model in the market. Its existing model produces 89 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. The car is currently priced at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is speculated that the price of the new model may increase slightly due to several updates.
