OnePlus and Oppo made big announcements, the two companies’ phones are coming with powerful AI features

OnePlus and Oppo have teamed up with Google to add Gemini, a generative artificial intelligence chat bot, to their phones. Both companies have assured that Gemini Ultra-based AI features will start rolling out to their devices by the end of this year. OnePlus and Oppo recently introduced AI Eraser photo editing. With this in mind, they have focused on expanding the range of AI in smartphones.

Gemini Ultra is coming to OnePlus and Oppo smartphones this year

It was announced at the Google Cloud Next’24 event that OnePlus and Oppo phones will roll out the Gemini Ultra. Speaking at the event, Oppo and OnePlus AI Product General Manager Nicole Zhang said that they have already rolled out multiple generative AI models in China for Oppo Find X7 and OnePlus 12 users. The collaboration with Google for Gemini Ultra (1.0) integration will also pave the way for the rollout of generative AI features in global markets.

It is expected that features like News Summary, Audio Summary, AI Toolbox and possibly Circle to Search will be available on compatible OnePlus and Oppo smartphones. Although the list of eligible devices has not been revealed, existing and future flagships from both brands are expected to get Gemini Ultra support.

Incidentally, both the Oppo and OnePlus brands are committed to building optimized hardware, operating systems and ecosystems to enhance the AI ​​experience. This will help these brands deliver a seamless Gemini Ultra experience on their devices Notably, Gemini LML comes in three versions – Nano, Pro and Ultra. Google’s latest flagships Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro use Gemini Nano. It remains to be seen how the Gemini Ultra will perform against Oppo and OnePlus devices.

Notably, Google recently announced that their AI-based photo editing features like Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur and Portrait Light will be available for free to all Google Photos users starting May 15. Earlier, Ally was only available to Pixel users and Google One subscribers.
