In the past few months, we have witnessed frequent changes in the top spot in the SUV market in India. Sometimes the Nexon and sometimes the Brezza, Tata, Maruti have won the title of the best SUV maker with these two models in terms of sales. But this time Tata’s other car Punch took the throne from Tata Nexon by surprise. Micro SUV, Tata Punch became India’s best selling SUV in January. This is the first time after entering the market! Let’s take a look at the top ten best selling SUVs last month.
Tata Punch
Punch is Tata’s cheapest SUV. It overtook the Tata Nexon by selling 17,978 units in January. Whereas last year in January this small SUV model sold 12,006 units. Tata recently launched the CNG and electric models of the Punch. All of which helped to increase sales.
Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon has been the best selling SUV every month since its launch in September in a new avatar. The car sold 17,182 units last month. Compared to the same month last year, the demand has increased by 10 percent. Tata is expected to launch the CNG version of their SUV soon.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
The Brezza debuted as Maruti Suzuki’s best selling SUV in terms of sales last month as well. The car has secured the third position in the list with sales of 15,303 units in the previous month. In comparison, it sold 14,359 units in January 2023.
Mahindra Scorpio
Scorpio holds the honor of Mahindra’s most popular SUV. It is currently sold in two versions – Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic. Mahindra has delivered this car to a total of 14,293 customers in the previous month. It had sold 8,715 units in January last year.
The Fronx at fifth place is Maruti Suzuki’s second best selling SUV. It is based on the company’s premium hatchback Baleno. The car crossed a total of 13,643 new customer addresses in the previous month. Besides, the Maruti Grand Vitara has occupied the sixth position in the list of best selling SUVs for January. It sold a total of 13,438 units in the previous month.
Next comes the name of Hyundai Creta. 13,212 were sold last month. Hyundai Venue (11,831 units) managed to occupy the eighth position. Kia Sonet and Mahindra Bolero are ranked ninth and tenth in the list respectively. The two models sold 11,530 units and 9,964 units respectively in the previous month.
