Hero MotoCorp is currently working on the electric version of the Splendor bike. They have already tied up with the famous American e-bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycle. Under this joint venture, the first electric bike may be launched in the market soon. Estimated time is 2026-27. It will be a premium model that will compete with motorcycles with 350 cc or more engines.
Last year, Hero MotoCorp announced plans to launch more than a dozen electric two-wheeler models. Although the exact category, price and timeframe have not been revealed. It is reported that there are plans to build a portfolio of 6 electric motorcycles under the Vida range from 2025-26 and under the alliance with Zero Motors, 4 more motorcycles.
Autocar Professional reports that the company has started preparations to launch two electric motorcycles in the 500-600 cc model range with Zero Motors in 2026-27. Hero is thinking of monthly production of 300 to 500 units of this bike. Notably, while speaking at the Hero World event in early 2024, Hero MotoCorp CEO Niranjan Gupta said that they may showcase some high-end electric motorcycle concepts in 2026.
Incidentally, the range of battery-powered two-wheelers in India is increasing. Yet the electric motorcycle segment in India is yet to gain significant traction, as a few startups like Revolt and UltraViolet have launched only a handful of bikes. On the other hand, Ola is going to enter this market soon with four new bikes.
