Tesla's arrival in the country has created various speculations. The US company is soon reported to appear with electric cars in India. However, in India, how successful Tesla will be as successful is different. There is a glimpse of how much domestic companies are especially concerned about this. JSW group chairman Sajjal Zindal commented on this context recently. He insisted that Tesla's success in the country is uncertain.

While interviewing a media outlet, he said, “Tesla's Elon Musk cannot succeed in this country. Because we are Indians here. He can not create what Mahindra can do, Tata can do what he can do. This is not possible. He can succeed in the shadow of Trump. He can do well in the United States, he is very smart, no doubt. But success in India is not an easy task. “
He firmly believes that Tesla has to fight hard to establish themselves in India against powerful domestic car makers. He emphasized the domination of Indian brands, especially Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors. He said that these companies have deep ideas about the likes of the Indian market and customers.
In order to facilitate foreign companies like Tesla, the Indian government is planning to reduce the import duty on electric passenger vehicles from the current 3-5 percent to 5 percent. However, to get this concession, the companies will have to invest at least Tk 5 crore or $ 1 million in the Make in India campaign within three years.
On the other hand, JSW has entered the country's car market with 5% partnership in a joint venture with MG Motor India. Through this joint venture with MG Motor India, they are challenging the established companies such as Tata Motors and Mahindra.
