Tata Motors is well known as a passenger car manufacturer. Lately the demand for their various models has increased at a noticeable rate. The trend continued last month. Statistics show that Tata sold 45,878 passenger vehicles in May 2023. Which is 2,537 units more than the same period last year.
However, last month Tata managed to sell 74,973 models of both passenger and commercial vehicles in India. It was 76,210 units in the previous year at the same time. Tata Motors currently has four SUV models in its portfolio – Punch (11,124 units), Nexon (14,423 units), Harrier (2,303 units) and Safari (1,776 units). The combined sales of the four vehicles stood at 29,626 units last month.
Tata is bringing an updated version of the SUV
Tata is gearing up to launch updated versions of its Nexon, Harrier and Safari this year. The list is also rumored to include an electric version of the new generation micro SUV Punch. As for the news, the Tata Nexon facelift could be launched in August with new features and design updates. It is Tata’s first car in India to have a paddle shifter. Besides, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, updated instrument cluster, new two-spoke flat bottom steering wheel with illuminated logo can be seen.
On the other hand, the 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs are likely to hit the market by Diwali this year. Both models get a new touchscreen infotainment system with ADAS technology and wireless smartphone connectivity and a new instrument cluster. The 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine will produce 170 bhp of power. As for the engine update, both the cars could come with a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which will also get an output of 170bhp.
