Tata Motors is rumored to launch the CNG version of its popular SUV, the Nexon, ahead of Pujo. The car made its debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo last January. The arrival date of the car may be revealed only after the launch of the Curvv ICE version on September 2. New reports suggest that the Tata Nexon CNG will be launched with two gearbox options.
The Tata Nexon CNG is claimed to come in five-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. The CNG-powered sub-compact SUV will come with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, producing 118 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque. However, it will reduce the output of the standard petrol mode and the power in the CNG version.
Incidentally, the Tata Nexon CNG is going to be India's first turbocharged petrol CNG vehicle. Again Nexon is the only car in the Indian market, which will be available in petrol, diesel, electric, CNG variants. Its design and looks will be similar to the standard model. But the iCNG badging on the exterior will distinguish it from the lineup.
Tata Nexon iCNG may be priced Rs 80,000 more than the standard version. It will compete strongly with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. This Maruti car is powered by a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated engine with a factory fitted CNG kit. It produces a maximum power of 87 bhp and 121 Nm of torque.
