One of the hot topics in the automobile world right now is solar powered electric cars. Many companies have stepped in to make such groundbreaking eco-friendly vehicles. One of which is the US startup Aptera. The company showcased an eye-catching three-wheeler solar EV at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025).
They made the car together with the famous Italian automotive designer firm Pininfarina (Pininfaria). Installation of solar panels on Apterra solar powered vehicles. The company claims it will set new benchmarks in energy efficiency in the automobile industry. Although it is a prototype model, they want to bring it to the market in the future. A 700 watt solar cell will power this vehicle.
The solar cells can offer a solar-powered range of up to 64 km per day with the ability to travel up to 644 km on a full charge. That is, the driver will not need to charge the car. It has a self-charging system. However, the detailed technical specifications of the car have not been disclosed. It is also unknown when it will be launched. But it goes without saying that there will be a stir when it actually hits the market.
Incidentally, Aptera was forced to shut down the jump in 2011 after failing to qualify for the US Department of Energy's advanced technology loan program. However, the company's founder relaunched Aptera in 2020 after successfully raising money through other means, including crowdfunding. In the second innings, the company is focusing on solar powered electric vehicles.
