Hyundai Inster: Hyundai's cheapest electric car launched, looks badass, 355 km on a single charge

Automobile companies are moving slowly towards selling electric-only models, ditching fossil fuel-powered cars. The launch of new electric vehicles one after the other indicates that. For example, the South Korean company Hyundai has unveiled its cheapest electric vehicle. The name is Hyundai Inster.

The Hyundai Inster will be based on Casper, the most popular electric vehicle sold in the global market. It is speculated that Hyundai may also launch the Inster in the Indian market to compete with the Tata Punch EV. However, it is reported that it will enter the Korean market first. Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific may be launched later.

Hyundai Inster: Dimensions and Boot Space

Hyundai has announced that a more rugged version of the upcoming electric model will be launched under the name Inster Cross. However, it is not possible to say whether this car will be launched in the Indian market. The new Hyundai Instar has a 280 liter boot space and a 2,580 mm wheelbase. Length, width and height are 3,825 mm, 1,610 mm and 1,575 mm respectively.

Hyundai Inster: Battery Pack

The Hyundai Instar will be offered in two battery pack options – 42 kWh and 49 kWh. These two models offer a range of 300 km and 355 km on a full charge. Both the vehicles are based on 266V and 310V architecture respectively. The two batteries will take 4 hours and 4 hours 35 minutes to fully charge respectively.

Hyundai Inster: Specifications and Top Speed

The power of the electric motor varies according to the Hyundai Instar variant. For example, the electric motor of the model with a small battery will generate a maximum power of 95 bhp and can reach a maximum speed of 140 km per hour. Whereas the larger battery pack model will produce 113 bhp of power and a top speed of 150 km/h.

Hyundai Inster: Price and Features

Important features of Hyundai Instar include advanced driver aid system, automatic climate control, auto hold, 360 degree camera, heated seat etc. The company is thinking of charging $25,000 (about Rs. 21 lakh) in the international market. If it comes to India, the price will be much lower.
