Hero hikes scooter prices by Rs 6,000 on new month

India’s largest two-wheeler company Hero MotoCorp has announced a price hike for its electric scooter Vida V1 Pro. The price has been increased by Rs 6,000 in one go. The price hike will see the scooter retail at Rs 1,45,900 (ex-showroom) in Mumbai. This again can be bought in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara for Rs 1,25,900. This is the price after adding the subsidy currently reduced under the Centre’s Fem-II scheme. In which portable chargers will be available.

The Union Ministry of Heavy Industries recently reduced the subsidy payable on the factory construction cost of all electric two-wheelers from 40 percent to 15 percent. From June 1 which has come into effect across the country. This reduction in subsidy under the FEM-II scheme has resulted in an increase to a maximum of Rs 45,000 per electric two-wheeler model. Judging from that aspect, it can be said that the price of Hero Vida has increased slightly.

The Hero Vida V1 Pro comes with a 3.94 kWh battery pack. It takes about 5 hours and 55 minutes to charge from 0-80%. The company claims that it provides a range of 165 km on a full charge. The 6 kW electric motor present in the scooter has an output of 3.9 kW. It can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 80 km/h.

With the reduction of subsidy under the FEM-II scheme, various leading manufacturers of electric two-wheelers have hiked the prices of their models. For example, TVS Motor has announced a price hike of Rs 17,000 and Rs 22,000 for its only electric scooter, the iQube, depending on the variant. Ola Electric has increased the price of S1 Pro, S1 and S1 Air by Rs 15,000. Ather Energy’s 450X currently retails at Rs 1,45,000.
