Recent online reports suggest that Xiaomi is working on their next-generation book-style foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, which could debut as the slimmest foldable phone on the market yet. And now the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 has received approval from China's MIIT certification platform, paving the way for the device's arrival in the country. Let's find out what information has emerged from this certification listing.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 got MIIT certification
A Xiaomi phone with model number 24072PX77C has passed network access certification from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). It is known that this device will support NR SA/NR NSA/TD-LTE/LTE FDD/WCDMA/CDMA 1X/GSM standard. Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) claims that this model number is linked to the Mix Fold 4 phone.
It supports Tiantong satellite connection and advanced mobile broadband technology. Notably, Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) is a category of 5G services, which offers increased bandwidth and lower latency compared to 4G services. EMMB can enable new applications that require high data rates, such as – 8K video streaming, immersive virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The phone can support 5.5G connectivity, which is considered the next step in the evolution of 5G technology. It is also expected to be superior to 5G connectivity in terms of speed, latency and efficiency.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is present in several of the latest flagships like the Xiaomi 14 series. For power backup, Xiaomi's foldable flagship is said to include a 5,000 mAh dual-shell battery (1,390 mAh + 2,485 mAh). Although specific charging speeds are yet to be confirmed, it is expected to offer wired and wireless fast charging. However, Digital Chat Station had earlier reported that the phone will offer upgraded 100W wired fast charging technology. Incidentally, the current generation Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 phone offers 67W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.
Besides, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 handset will have a 50-megapixel quad camera setup, which will include a 5x periscope telephoto like its predecessor. The main sensor and ultrawide lens of the upcoming mix fold phone could be OV50E and OV13B respectively. The previous generation Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 offers a 3.2x telephoto and a 5x periscope telephoto. According to a report by iHome, the 3.2x telephoto may be replaced by a 2x lens, and the 2x and 5x telephoto modules will be equipped with OV60A and S5K3K1 sensors, respectively.
