Use Samsung’s smartphone or tab? All these models will not receive the Android 14 update

South Korean tech giant Samsung is particularly known for providing timely and more updates to their Android smartphones than other brands. While Google itself promises only three years of updates for its Pixel phones, Samsung has extended it to four years. Adding an extra year of security updates, Samsung’s mid-range and high-end phones technically get a total of five years of updates. But, no phone lasts forever. Every handset stops receiving operating system updates at certain times. And now a list of Samsung phones and tablets has been revealed, which will not get the next Android 14 based One UI 6.0 update.

Android 13 will be the final software update for the following Galaxy phones:

Galaxy S10 Lite

Galaxy S20 FE

Galaxy S20 / Galaxy S20+ / Galaxy S20 Ultra

Galaxy 10 Lite

Galaxy Note 20/Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

Galaxy Z Flip (LTE/5G)

Galaxy Z Fold 2

Galaxy A22 (LTE/5G)

Galaxy A32 (LTE/5G)

Galaxy A51

Galaxy A71

Besides smartphones, Samsung has a bunch of tablets that won’t get the Android 14 update. These are –

Galaxy Tab A8

Galaxy Tab A7 Lite

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2020)

Galaxy Tab S7 / Galaxy Tab S7+

These devices will continue to receive security updates for a few more days. But they will not get Android 14 or One UI 6.0 update. If a Samsung device is older than the Android 13 OS version and is not on this list, it will also not receive the Android 14 update.

Incidentally, Samsung has not yet officially announced when they will release their Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update. But based on Android 13’s schedule, select Galaxy phones and tablets are expected to receive the next major OS upgrade before 2023. The Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra are likely to be the first devices to receive Android 14 and One UI 6.0.
