After launching in the global market earlier this month, Redmi is gearing up to unveil the Redmi 12 smartphone in India on August 1. The device will be a 4G smartphone powered by MediaTek Helio G88 chipset. Again, a recent report suggests that a 5G variant of the Redmi 12 will also be launched in the global market soon. And now the model has been listed on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, which has revealed some of its key features.
Redmi 12 5G spotted on Geekbench database
The Redmi 12 5G phone with model number 23076RN4BI has been listed on the Geekbench platform. As per the listing, it has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz with Adreno 613 GPU. It is likely Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 5G chipset. The listing also revealed that it will have 8GB of RAM and will run on Android 13-based operating system.
In terms of performance, the Redmi 12 5G scored 916 points in Geekbench’s single-core test and 2,106 points in the multi-core test. Other than that, the listing doesn’t reveal any other information, but it looks like it will be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12R that was launched in China in April. An earlier report claimed that the Redmi Note 12R will be launched as Redmi 12 5G in the global market and Poco M5 5G in India.
Notably, the Redmi 12 5G with the same model number has received Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification, which likely means it will be the Indian version of the Redmi 12 5G. Hence, it is believed that both Xiaomi’s sub-brands, Poco and Redmi, are planning to launch the rebranded Redmi Note 12R as Poco M6 Pro 5G and Redmi 12 5G in the Indian market. The Redmi Note 12R features a 6.79-inch LCD FullHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, which offers 5G connectivity and comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. For photography, the phone has a dual-camera setup on the rear panel with a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. And there is a 5 megapixel front camera in front of the phone For power backup, the Redmi Note 12R has a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The phone runs MIUI 14 software version based on Android 13 operating system.
