Do you know how many people have bought an iPhone in the last 5 years after leaving the Android phone? The number will surprise you

The competition in the smartphone market is increasing day by day. Established brands like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo are adopting innovative strategies to sell more phones to capture the market. However, this competition is only one side of the page. On the other hand, or rather on top of everything, Apple and Google are fighting for the ultimate mobile operating system. Now the question of lakhs of rupees is, who is ahead in this race? A new study sheds light on that.

Android users are choosing the older and cheaper iPhone as their first Apple product

Everyone knows that changing habits is very difficult. Undoubtedly, after using Android or iOS for many years, it can be difficult for users to migrate to another OS ecosystem. Still, some users are enthusiastic about trying new things. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners LLC (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners LLC) has highlighted the habits of smartphone users in a report. For example, 10-15 percent of users have switched from Android to iOS in the last five years The rate of migration from Android to iOS was 13% in 2019, 11% in 2020, 11% in 2021, 15% in 2022 and 13% in 2023.

Also of note is which models users chose as their first iPhone. Every year Apple releases iPhone models with more powerful processors than before. However, for the past few years this performance has been more than what the average smartphone user needs. And Apple’s move has made older iPhones a much more desirable option. On the other hand, price-performance-focused Android users are choosing older iPhones over expensive models when switching.

Notably, 29% of buyers chose the iPhone SE 3, iPhone 12 or iPhone 13/13 Mini in 2023, while only 21% of existing iPhone users are upgrading to these models. However, the majority (51%) who chose iOS over Android chose the new iPhone 14 series. This indicates that, while price is a factor for former Android users, many are still willing to invest in Apple’s latest technology.
