Qualcomm's ace in speed, even Exynos processor is not present in Samsung's phone

Samsung is going to launch its next generation Z series of flagship smartphones in the market very soon. The upcoming lineup will consist of two models as always, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Speculations about the devices have already started in tech circles. They have even recently been seen on important certification platforms like Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Camera FV-5. These are expected to hit the market by next July. Before that, a new report has revealed an important information about the processor of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 handsets. Let's find out about it.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phones will not have Exynos chipset

South Korean publication The Elec has reported in a recent report that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phones will not feature the company's proprietary Exynos chipset. Incidentally, Samsung has been exclusively using Snapdragon chipsets in all their foldable phones. So it's no surprise that the company will once again use a Snapdragon chipset in its sixth-generation foldables.

However, Samsung has improved both the performance and power efficiency of their in-house silicon over the past few generations. And the main goal behind is to keep more control over their smartphone business while saving costs. Actually, Exines doesn't have much of a reputation. These chipsets have a long history of being inferior or significantly worse performing than their Snapdragon counterparts. But now it finally seems that Exynos has managed to catch up with Qualcomm chipsets.

A recent report claims that the upcoming Exynos 2500 chipset will surpass the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in terms of power efficiency. But, the new chipset will likely debut with the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, and the current options for the sixth-generation foldable are the Exynos 2400 and last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, the Exynos 2400 is still not considered efficient enough to be a viable option.

OnePlus Nord 4 spotted Geekbench listing ahead of India launch

According to a Korean publication, Samsung MX (Smartphone Business Unit) has decided to continue its long-standing partnership with Qualcomm in terms of its foldable phones. According to the report, Samsung is refraining from using the currently available Exynos 2400 chipset, as it does not meet the power efficiency requirements. Last year's Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a 3,700 mAh battery.

However, it is rumored that the Samsung Z Flip 6 phone will pack a 3,880 mAh battery, which may be marketed as a 4,000 mAh battery. If true, it will be similar to the Samsung Galaxy S24 phone. But even this is not enough for flagship chipsets. This may be one of the reasons behind companies prioritizing power efficiency, even though it is not cost-effective for them. Notably, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 phone has already been spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform and the phone is expected to launch sometime in mid-July.
