Qualcomm is losing importance? Oppo may prefer Mediatek in terms of processor

The Oppo Find X7 flagship smartphone series made its debut in the Chinese market earlier this year. However, within a few months of its launch, various speculations about the next generation Oppo Find X8 lineup have started to emerge. And now a tipster has claimed that Oppo will ditch the Qualcomm processor completely from the upcoming flagship series. The company is rumored to use the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset in both models of the Oppo Find X8 lineup. Let's find out about this in detail.

Oppo Find X8 series will not have Qualcomm processor?

A Chinese tipster has claimed in his Weibo (Chinese micro-blogging site) post that both the Oppo Find X8 series models will feature the MediaTek Dimension 9400 chipset. However, the tipster did not name the specific model. However, since the latest Oppo Find X7 series includes both the base X7 and the high-end Oppo X7 Ultra models, the tipster is probably referring to the Oppo Find X8 and Oppo X8 Ultra models.

However, this information contradicts earlier statements by a more reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station. Although DCS did not share processor details, he hinted that the Find X8 series will have three models, which are likely to be the standard Oppo Find X8, X8 Pro and X8 Ultra. These conflicting reports have created uncertainty surrounding the upcoming Find series of phones at the moment It is believed to hit the market within the next few months, but nothing has been officially announced yet.

However, both the processors be it MediaTek Dimensity 9400 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are expected to offer phenomenal performance. Meanwhile, DCS claims that the Dimensity 9400 chip can outperform the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Apple A17 Pro chipsets in terms of instructions per clock (IPC). Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to use in-house Orion CPU cores for significant performance gains.

Note that Oppo may choose any one of the chipsets to ensure top-level performance in their flagship handsets, but the final decision remains unclear. However, it is expected that more information about the Oppo Find X8 series processor as well as other specifications will emerge in the coming days.
