Popular brand Fossil has decided to exit the smartwatch business permanently. Instead the company is thinking of focusing more on the segments in which it is strong. Let us know that Fossil announced a smartwatch called Gen 6 in 2021. Since then the brand has not launched any more models under this series. The Gen 6 is believed to be the last model in the company’s smartwatch line.
A Fossil spokesperson said, “Due to significant changes in the smartwatch market, we have decided to exit this business. We are now focusing on launching products in other segments. So we will now increasingly design and sell traditional watches, jewelery and leather goods under our own and licensed brands.”
Some users on the Reddit site recently claimed that employees at Fossil’s retail stores told them “the company will soon be discontinuing the smartwatch business.” However, some people posted at the same time that Fossil is waiting for the new chip and will once again launch products under their smartwatch line. However, company officials later confirmed that the first claim was true.
It should be noted that Fossil used to launch smartwatches running Wear OS from the beginning. But then there was not much demand for wearables running Wire OS. However, after Google (Google) and Samsung (Samsung) jointly introduced Wear OS 3 (Wear OS 3) in 2021, several changes came in the smartwatch industry.
Fossil was then expected to announce a new Gen 7 smartwatch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 5 Plus chipset platform in 2023. But the device is not launched yet. Even the company always showcases their smartwatch devices at the ‘Consumer Electronics Show’ (CES) event. But this time it was not done.
Fossil has promised to provide software support and updates for their existing smartwatches for the next few years. As a result, if you are using the smartwatch of the brand, then there is nothing to worry about this news…
