Facebook owner Zuckerberg brings Twitter alternative Threads to wake up Elon Musk

Meta-owned Instagram’s Threads platform is set to launch soon. And many have already started to consider it as an alternative to Twitter. Notably, after Elon Musk announced new rules on Twitter such as limiting tweet viewing and verification to access tweet decks, there was frustration among Twitter users. Due to which many users are seen leaving this platform. So at such a time this announcement of Meta has become the focus of everyone’s discussion.

Several reports about Threads have been doing the rounds for quite some time now. There are even reports of a cold war between Twitter owner Elon Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. However, how true this is cannot be said with certainty. But it is already known that this new app of Meta called Threads can be launched before 6 July.

If you are an iPhone user, you can check out this Instagram app called Threads from the App Store. A few days ago the app was listed on the App Store and the launch date was announced there. However, there is no reason to get too excited about this. Because Meta can make the app run slowly.

What are Meta Threads?

In a nutshell, Threads is Instagram’s ‘text-based conversation app’. And as the app description says, Threads is a place where multiple communities come together to discuss everything from today’s hot topics to tomorrow’s trends. This allows you to directly follow and interact with your favorite creators who share the same interests as you. Or you can share your own ideas, opinions and creativity with the world and people can follow you.

Threads will allow users to sign in with their Instagram account. They can also follow accounts they are already following on the photo and video sharing app. Also, users can use this app with the same name used in their Instagram account. Therefore, if you already have an Instagram account, signing up for Threads will be much easier.

This app will basically work in the same way as Twitter. It will allow users to share their thoughts with the world. Other users can also reshare, like, and comment on your post (just like Elon Musk’s tweets can be retweeted, commented on, and liked here).

But so far only Threads is listed in the App Store. Can’t find it on Google Play Store yet. Note that the app was briefly seen on the Play Store at the end of last week, but was removed after a few hours.

The Threads app has reportedly been under development since January this year and was previously codenamed Project 92.

Jack Dorsey, Elon Musk’s response

Twitter’s former CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey also reacted to the app’s launch on Twitter. He also joked. Sharing a screenshot of all the data Threads collects from users, Dorsey wrote, “All your Threads belong to us.” Elon Musk then retweeted Dorsey’s tweet in agreement.

Meanwhile, Dorsey has invested in Bluesky, which is considered a competitor to Twitter. And Elon Musk’s microblogging site is also believed to be very similar.

Incidentally, Bluesky was born in 2019, when Jack Dorsey was the CEO of Twitter. He chose Jay Graeber to lead the new platform and then the entire Bluesky team.In 2022, Bluesky became a public benefit company and severed all ties to Twitter.
