Budget 2024: Tariff hike is 5 percent, prices of telecom services may rise again

Sitharaman said, “To encourage domestic production, I am proposing to increase the BCD i.e. basic customs duty on PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) from 10 percent to 15 percent. “

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget for the financial year 2024-25 yesterday. Big announcements have been made in the budget to boost domestic production. It is clear from this budget that the government intends to take the Made in India initiative forward. In the budget, the import duty on mobile parts, chargers etc. has been reduced to 15 percent. However, the export duty on telecom components has been increased by 5 percent. In such a situation the cost of telecom related services may increase.

The finance minister said in the budget that the import duty of printed circuit board has been increased by 5 percent for the development of the domestic telecom industry. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “To encourage domestic production, I am proposing to increase the BCD i.e. Basic Customs Duty on PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) from 10 percent to 15 percent. “

As a result, many people think that the price of recharge plan may be increased again. Note that in the beginning of July, from Jio to Airtel, all telecom operators have increased their plan tariffs. As a result, there is no possibility of an immediate increase in the price of the recharge plan.

Meanwhile, the finance minister has proposed to completely exempt 25 minerals like lithium, copper, cobalt, which are important for sectors like nuclear power, renewable energy, aerospace, defence, telecom and hi-tech electronics. Customs duty will also be levied on them.
