BSNL is again facing problems while launching 4G, why is the work stuck?

While state-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited i.e. BSNL could not launch 5G network across the country, it has launched 4G in select regions of the country. However, now after this network rollout they have to face several problems again. The government had actually directed the company to use indigenous technology for the 4G rollout, but it is currently believed to be not working properly. Because, the network core developed by the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) recently identified a problem in the BSNL 4G network. According to the company, multiple subscribers in outdoor environment are not able to make calls using this network.

According to a report by ET, BSNL has approached Finnish vendor Nokia and Chinese vendor GTE. So that they help stabilize outdoor 4G services using the telco’s core networks. Also, BSNL is trying to increase IB Multimedia Sub System (IMS) capacity to increase network traffic.

A section of the C-DoT claimed that BSNL’s commercial networks built on indigenous technology at Ambala and Chandigarh have been successfully tested. And then TCS issued an order to supply the equipment.

Meanwhile BSNL does not have a pan-India 4G network, which puts its active users below 50 million (500 lakh) compared to other telcos. However, TCS has said that it will provide the necessary equipment for BSNL’s 4G roll out this fiscal. Therefore, it is expected that this Indian telecom operator will stand up again in the coming days in the crowd of private telecom operators.
