In Budget 2024, the central government announced a package of Rs 1.28 lakh crore, which will be spent on telecom projects and technology upgrades of state-run telecom company BSNL.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave good news for BSNL in the budget. In fact, BSNL has been trying to change the infrastructure for a long time. While private telecom operators have brought 4G and 5G services, BSNL currently offers 3G services across India and 4G services in some regions. Even after that, many people are taking BSNL SIM due to the reduction in the recharge plan price. In this situation, the government has prepared a plan to bring BSNL back on track. Modi government is going to spend huge amount of money for this.
In Budget 2024, the central government announced a package of Rs 1.28 lakh crore, which will be spent on telecom projects and technology upgrades of state-owned telecom company BSNL. It should be noted that in this package BSNL and MTNL will be given about 1 lakh crore rupees. Out of this, Rs 82,916 will be spent on technical development and infrastructure changes of BSNL.
According to the announcement, 1,28,915 crores will be given by the government in the financial year 2024-25. Besides, 17 thousand crores will come from Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF). This Rs 17,000 crore will be spent on telecom services provider Bharatnet and research and development. Out of this, Rs 17,510 crore will be spent on the pension of the employees of the telecommunication department.
If the interim budget of fiscal year 2025 is compared with fiscal year 2024, then the growth has been 14.65 percent. In this budget, the budget allocation for BharatNet has increased by 70 percent. With the help of BharatNet, optical fiber services are delivered from village to village. As a result, internet connection will reach almost all the villages in the coming days.
