State-owned company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is going to launch 4G services in the country soon It is said that they have already completed trials in all their circles. And before the end of this month, BSNL announced the deployment of over 15,000 4G sites under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat Initiative”. Notably, recently BSNL has also achieved a milestone of setting up around 25,000 4G towers across the country.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, a senior BSNL official said that the telecom company will launch the much-awaited 4G services for all customers in October 2024. The report also mentions that BSNL has so far installed around 25,000 4G towers across India, and the results of the company's 4G trials have also been quite satisfactory. So the telco hopes to complete this work by October itself. Note that the state agency has already started encouraging users to upgrade their existing SIM to 4G SIM, so that they can enjoy BSNL's 4G services in the coming days without any interruption.

According to the report, the senior official said that although they are now ready to fully rollout 4G, they will also formally conduct trials of several 4G services before launching 4G commercially.

Incidentally, private telecom companies like Bharti Airtel and Jio have already launched 5G services. And Vodafone Idea continues to work on fixing the weaknesses of their 4G network. And there BSNL is still offering 2G and 3G services in most of the areas barring few areas. However, Tejas Networks, a consortium led by the Tata group, and the government-backed C-DoT are providing the necessary equipment and technology for the rapid rollout of 4G services in the country.

In addition, BSNL also started onboarding pilot 4G services to around 800,000 customers using indigenously developed technology. And, currently BSNL has set a target of setting up 100,000 towers for 4G and 5G services across India. The company hopes that very soon they will be able to touch the milestone of completing this goal.
