Royal Enfield has the world leading model of scrambler or off-road motorcycle in India. It is the only off-road bike available with spoke wheels and long travel suspension. The Triumph Scrambler 400X follows Triumph’s larger Scrambler bikes in terms of design. It features spherical headlights, long travel suspension, alloy wheels, an upright seating position with wide bars, hand cards and a side slung exhaust. The Royal Enfield Himalayan, on the other hand, features round headlights, a low yet upright seating position, and a small visor to cut through the wind. Arguably, the Himalayan looks better than the Scrambler 400X.

Single cylinder engine present in both the motorcycles. The displacement of the Himalayan is higher but the Scrambler 400X is more powerful. Although it has a liquid cooled engine, the Royal Enfield features an oil-air cooled motor. The Scrambler 400X will produce 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 Nm of torque from its 398 cc engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Whereas the Himalayan’s 411 cc motor produces 24.3 bhp of power and 32 Nm of torque. The number of gears is five.

The Triumph Scrambler 400X comes with USD fork, monoshock, 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, LED lighting, dual disc brakes with dual channel ABS, traction control system, semi-digital instrument cluster and charging outlet. And
The Himalayan offers telescopic forks, rear monoshock, 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, a semi-digital instrument cluster, disc brakes on both wheels with dual-channel ABS, LED lighting, etc. As a result, Triumph Scrambler 400X is ahead in terms of features.

Bajaj-Triumph Scrambler 400X vs Royal Enfield Himalayan: Which one to buy?

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is priced at Rs 2.16 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Triumph will announce the price of the Scrambler 400X on July 5. Expect prices to be higher than Himalayan. But if the price difference is between 10-15 thousand, Bajaj-Triumph is a good option.
