Bajaj Auto, the country’s largest exporter of motorcycles and three-wheelers, has said it will set up its first factory in Brazil. Bajaj will take the help of its wholly owned subsidiary Bajaj Do Brazil in this work. Rakesh Sharma, executive officer of the Indian brand, said about setting up a factory in Brazil, the largest two-wheeler market in Latin America, it would help in consolidating the land in the region as well as in terms of product development and understanding of customer needs.
Bajaj Auto to set up factory in Brazil
According to an all-India news agency report, Bajaj’s proposed factory in Brazil will produce 20,000 units of two-wheelers per month in the initial phase. Sharma is optimistic about starting production in the new plant within the next one year. He added that KTM will also make motorcycles at the factory in Brazil.
Bajaj has already tied up with Britain’s Triumph Motorcycles. They already have manufacturing units in Brazil. Recently the two companies jointly launched Triumph Speed 400 and Triumph Scrambler 400X. Apart from India, they have made their debut in the international market as well.
Based in Pune, India, Bajaj Auto currently does business in more than 90 countries around the world. Bajaj has adopted a disciplined distribution model in these countries’ markets. But the organization believes that Brazil is different from the rest because of its scope and complexity.
