Ather-BPCL: Charging system at the petrol pump, travel long distances on electric scooters with peace of mind

The pace at which the number of electric two-wheelers is increasing in the country is not without increasing the number of charging stations. Hence ride hailing companies from various two-wheeler manufacturers are embarking on the project of setting up charging stations. Ather Energy, one of the leading manufacturers of battery-powered scooters, has also announced steps to be taken in this regard. They have announced a tie-up with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited or BPCL. Ether will install its public charging stations at 21,000 pumps of state-owned oil companies across the country, according to a press release.

Ather and Bharat Petroleum will tie up to develop EV charging stations

According to Ether, the charging infrastructure will be developed in the metro suburbs and some of the connecting roads. Four fast chargers have already been installed in the Delhi-NCR region, they said. Again, BPCL has set a target of installing more than 100 chargers in pumps within this year.

Currently, Ether has 1,400 public charging stations in 100 cities. That is why it is one of the largest charging networks in the country. Ether customers will get location about nearby charging station through mobile app. From here, the company’s charging stations are also available.

In this regard, Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ether, said, “The alliance with BPCL will help us expand our charging station network. This will enable us to offer fast charging grid to more customers.” They hope that the company’s electric scooter sales will increase.
