Youtube shorts has been launched in India for beta testers. It is a short video feature from YouTube which lets users create and share 15-second short videos. Google launched the shorts feature to compete against short video platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok.
After the Tiktok ban, Many Indian companies or tech giants introduced their own alternative of TikTok. such as Mx takatak, Mitron App, and more but could not establish itself as a proper alternative of Tiktok in India So, Google also wants to capture the attention of the short video platform audiences and creators with its shorts feature.
In its latest blog, Google announced the launch of an early beta of YouTube Shorts. According to Google, users can create short videos right from the YouTube mobile app. As mentioned it is a short video platform due to which users can record a video up to 15 seconds which are easily discoverable on the YouTube homepage as well as across other sections of the app.
How to use Youtube Shorts?
In the latest update, The Create button has been shifted to the bottom bar of navigation for Android users in India, Now follow these simple steps to create a short video:-
- First of all, you have to press the “+” icon
- Now, you will see two options – Video or Go live
- Choose the video option
- If you are a beta tester then you will see create a short video option.
- Simply, Make your short video of maximum 15-seconds or choose it from the gallery
- Click on next
- Add the Title, Description, & location in your video
- Click on Upload
- Done, you have successfully uploaded a short video
Those who don’t have access to the Shorts camera can still upload vertical videos of a maximum length of 60 seconds but make sure to use the hashtag #shorts in the title or description, and these would still be picked up to be highlighted videos on the YouTube homepage.
As of now, Youtube Shorts camera has features like stringing multiple video clips, speed controls, times, and adding music to clips. Furthermore, Chris Jaffe, VP of Product Management for YouTube said that Shorts will be available to iOS and also to other countries soon, and more features for creation will also be added very quickly.
