Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India or HMSI has long held the title of the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer. After Hero MotoCorp, Honda’s name came up. But the sales of the Japanese company fell in July. Last month they sold 3,38,310 bikes and scooters (domestic + export), which is 15,333 units less than July 2022. As a result the sales rate decreased by 23.74%. It is normal to see that Honda’s forehead will be worried.
Honda’s two-wheeler sales fell by 23.74%
Honda sold a total of 3,10,867 two-wheelers in the domestic market in the previous month. Whereas in July 2022 this number was 4,02,701. Demand in the country decreased by 22.8 percent. On the other hand, exports fell to 27,443 units last month from 40,942 units in July last year. That is 33% decline in exports.
However, compared to June this year (3,24,093), Honda has managed to increase the sales of bikes and scooters by 4.39 percent. Despite the new launch, this slump in Honda’s sales is a matter of concern. However, the position of the top-ranking Hero MotoCorp is not very good either. They sold 3,91,310 two-wheelers in the previous month, a 14 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, HMSI is gearing up to increase sales during the Puja season. They will be launching a new premium commuter bike this month. It will be based on the popular model Unicorn 160. Reports claim that Honda is currently working on a new 350cc motorcycle. Besides, they have launched Dio 125 last month to increase their dominance in the 125 cc sporty scooter segment.
