India has a huge market for used cars as well as new cars. And women are not lagging behind men when it comes to buying second hand models. Recently, this figure has been revealed in the report of Spiny, one of the second hand car dealers in India. It mentions that 46% of the buyers of second hand cars sold in India in March this year were women. Out of which the most customers are Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Increasing number of women are buying second hand cars
Spiny’s report claims that the most preferred cars by women are Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i10 Nios. They are most popular with buyers aged 30-40 years. The largest number of women buyers are citizens of the capital. It amounts to 48%. Again 46% of total customers are Mumbai residents. 41% are residents of Bangalore.
Spinney has taken steps to attract women buyers towards second hand cars. They are offering a discount of Rs 25,000 on used cars for women buyers. In this regard, Neeraj Singh, CEO and founder of the company said, “We are delighted to see more and more female buyers flocking to the second-hand car market these days.”
Incidentally, the report also said in the context of why the number of women buyers are increasing to buy second hand cars. This is because today’s women are financially independent and aware. In 2023, more than 70 percent of buyers of second-hand car sales are corporate employees.
