Vodafone Idea completes minimum 5G rollout obligations for customers to enjoy 5G services soon
Vodafone Idea's 5G services may soon be launched across the country. Because earlier the company had rolled out 5G services in certain regions on an experimental basis. But Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) today said it has completed the minimum 5G rollout obligation set by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in all circles.
Notably, the Department of Telecom asked Vodafone Idea to roll out 5G in metro circles as well as anywhere in non-metro circles in the first year. However, the telco failed to do this within the specified time. However, DoT is yet to demand any monetary penalty from the company given the financial condition of Vi.
In fact, Vodafone Idea did not have enough money for the 5G network rollout until now. They were working to raise money in various ways. Punitive fines against VI in such circumstances would have made it difficult for the organization to survive.
Vodafone Idea today announced that it has already completed the minimum 5G rollout obligation in all circles using both spectrum bands. And they hope to start rolling out the next-generation network in all countries next winter.
