Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken strict action against companies misusing bulk connections to deal with spam calls. TRAI said that any company making spam calls through PRI or SIP connections of Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL shall be immediately terminated.
Companies can be banned for two years
Such companies will be blacklisted or banned by all operators for two years, TRAI said. TRAI also said that common customers are suffering due to increasing number of spam calls. So they are quick to finalize strict measures by meeting with service providers.
What does TRAI say in its warning?
In a news release, TRAI said that it will share important information with all telecom service providers and based on that information the telecom service providers will disconnect all connections of those companies. Besides, they will also be blacklisted for two years.
Also, TRAI has also ordered that all messages with unverified URLs or APKs will be blocked from 1st September 2024. Note that the telecom operators have been given a deadline of 31 October 2024 to implement this system.
According to the report, TRAI also said that it is important to identify spammers who use PRI and SIP connections for voice calls, robo calls, pre-recorded calls and take strict action against them. Notably, all telecom service providers have also promised to fully cooperate with TRAI to prevent the problem of spam calls and implement TRAI's directives within the time frame.
