TRAI is working with Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL to get rid of the problem of call drops

The ‘Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’ (TRAI) is currently trying to improve the ‘quality of services’ (QoS) of telecom service providers in India. That’s why the government agency is planning to implement strict rules soon to curb one of the growing problems of ‘call drops’. TRAI has also taken initiatives to increase network coverage inside buildings to address low-signal issues.

What is the issue of Call Drops?

Call drop refers to the sudden termination of a phone call before the end of the conversation. There could be several reasons for this. Sometimes the phone has an error. Sometimes it is caused by surrounding problems. This can also be the case for service quality.

TRAI may come up with new rules to solve the problem of call drops in India

In this regard TRAI’s new Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said that, “Telecom sector is a growing sector which is facing new challenges every day. As a result, the government and telecom operators have to work together to keep pace with the times. In this regard, if any new rules regarding call drop are introduced, it will be brought keeping in mind the current needs of the telecom industry.”

Let it be known that TRAI has been very strict with their rules for the past few months. The regulatory body recently issued a guideline for telecom operators in Halfil to reduce spam calls and messages. According to the guidelines, telecom companies must obtain consent from users before sending promotional content. In this case Airtel and Vodafone Idea violated this law, they had to pay a fine of up to 1 crore rupees. Besides, TRAI has also launched a new program called ‘Digital Content Acquisition’ (DCA) recently.
