Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released mobile subscriber data for the month of November 2024. From this report, the performance of the country's telecom companies in the month of November has come to the fore. It is clear from here that the impact of tariff plan price hike since last July has now faded and customers are again shifting towards private telecom companies.
It may be noted that in July, private telecom companies increased the prices of their recharge plans, which resulted in people joining BSNL. But this trend has now subsided and BSNL's subscriber base has started to decline again. According to the report, the government telecom company lost around 340,000 subscribers in November 2024. The number of users of the company fell for the first time since last July. BSNL now has around 92 million users and ranks fourth in terms of subscriber base.
Jio's dominance remains intact
Reliance Jio's position strengthened in November. The company added nearly 1.2 million new customers this month. Currently, Jio has become the largest telecom company in the country with 461 million subscribers.
Airtel lost customers
Airtel is currently the second largest telecom company in the country with 38.4 crore subscribers. However, the company lost about 1.1 million customers in November.
Even worse is Vodafone Idea
In November 2024, VI suffered a major setback. The company lost about 1.5 million users this month. Now, Vodafone Idea has 208 million subscribers. Although Vi has announced that they will soon launch 5G services.
