Toyota Taisor: Toyota’s take on Maruti, new SUV set to launch in India on April 3

Toyota has been making cars in alliance with Maruti Suzuki for a long time. The two companies are often seen launching each other’s rebadge models. Bringing the same car using a different brand name is called rebadge. This year, Toyota Motor is going to bring a copy model of Maruti’s very popular compact SUV Fronx as the first model of the year.

Toyota brings Urban Cruiser Taisor

Toyota recently filed a trademark for the name Urban Cruiser Taisor in India. The new model under this name will enter the market on April 3, 2024. This will make Toyota’s entry into the world of small cars. Currently the market is shaking in the segment – ​​Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Hyundai Exter.

The upcoming Taisor car in India will be the fourth Maruti Suzuki model to be rebadged by Toyota. Earlier, the company copied the Maruti Brezza and brought the Urban Cruiser SUV. However, its sale was later discontinued. Now two more Maruti Rebadge cars sold by Toyota. The Ertiga MPV models Rumion and Baleno are sold as Glanza.

The upcoming Taisor will be similar to the Fronx in terms of interiors. Maruti’s SUV model has a list of notable features – 9 inch infotainment system, 360 degree camera, head up display etc. Toyota’s upcoming car is speculated to feature wireless charging, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more.

Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold control and rear parking sensors on the front. It is speculated that Toyota’s upcoming model is going to get two types of engines as the power source. 1.0 liter Boosterjet turbo petrol and 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engines. Their outputs will be 99 bhp and 147 Nm of torque and 88 bhp respectively. The Toyota Taisor may be offered with a hybrid powertrain. The car can be selected with 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT and 6-speed torque converter options.
