Toyota cars mean hard engines and will last for years. This time they are going to enter the country’s electric car market. According to a report by Autocar India, Toyota will launch a new SUV as its first electric vehicle in India in the second half of 2025. It will be based on the Urban SUV concept that was showcased in December last year. The Toyota car will also share some similarities with the previous Maruti eVX, due in the first quarter of next year. Toyota’s first electric car is expected to go on sale during the Puja season of 2025. Let’s know the range, features, specifications of the car.
Toyota will launch an electric vehicle (SUV) in India next year
Let’s say, Toyota Urban SUV is 4,300 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height. It is close to the Maruti eVX in terms of size. The production model of the car will have a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Like the eVX, it will also be based on the 27PL skateboard platform. This heavily localized platform is manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat factory. Apart from selling in the Indian market, the car will be exported abroad.
Toyota Electric SUV: Hi-tech cabin
Inspired by the concept model, Toyota’s upcoming electric SUV will appear with bold angular surfaces and C-shaped LED DRL running lights and front bumper. Besides, there are flared wheel arches, and an upright silhouette like an SUV. The cabin of the production model is expected to come equipped with luxury and safety features and advanced technology.
Toyota Electric SUV: Battery and Range
Toyota’s electric SUV is expected to be offered in two battery pack options. 60 kwh pack will get 550 km range on full charge. On the other hand, the report claims that the 48 kWh battery pack will be able to cover a maximum distance of 400 km. The car will be available in front and dual motor all wheel drive variants.
A rival to Toyota’s electric SUV
Launched as a mid-size electric SUV, Toyota’s battery car will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX. Inside the car there is more space, safety elements, comfortable features and world class technology.
