Statistics show that a total of 14.71 lakh two-wheelers were sold in India last month. Comparatively the sales volume in May 2022 was 12.53 lakh units. As a result, 17.4% growth in sales has been observed in the last month. In May 2023, Hero MotoCorp has occupied the top position as always in terms of selling motorcycles and scooters. Honda and TVS are in second and third place respectively. Let’s find out the top five companies in terms of two wheeler sales in May.
Royal Enfield
Royal Enfield is currently the fifth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. In May, the company managed to hand over the keys to a total of 70,795 new motorcycles. Whereas 53,525 models were sold at the same time last year. The Classic 350 has been the company’s best selling motorcycle for a long time. New models like the Meteor and Hunter have also helped Suzuki compete by increasing sales.
Bajaj
Bajaj has occupied the fourth position in the list in terms of two-wheeler sales. Last month the company sold a total of 1,94,684 units of bikes. Sales more than doubled compared to May 2022, shockingly. The company’s best selling model is the Pulsar. Next is Platina.
TVS
Hosur-based company TVS sold a total of 2,52,690 units of two-wheelers last month. Whereas in May 2022, the company sold a total of 1,91,482 units of motorcycles and scooters. Jupiter, Ntorq and Apache series contributed the most to the sales growth of TVS. Again the XL100 alone is rocking the world of mopeds.
Honda
Honda has failed to ace arch-rival Hero MotoCorp despite launching new models recently. In May they sold 3,11,144 units of scooters and motorcycles. Sales contracted by 3% last month as compared to 3,20,857 units sold in May last year.
Hero MotoCorp
Hero MotoCorp has long held the top spot in two-wheeler sales in India. Last month the company’s sales volume was 5,08,309 units. Whereas a year ago at that time they managed to sell a total of 4,66,466 units of two-wheelers. As a result, sales progressed by 8.9 percent.
