In May, MG Motor surprised the countrymen by launching India’s cheapest electric car and the smallest four-wheeler. They reaped the benefits of it. The British company reported a 25% jump in its car sales in the country last month. Stating the figures, MG said that it has handed over the keys to over 5,000 cars to Indians in the last month.

MG Motor’s sales rose 25 percent in May

In May 2023, MG Motor India managed to sell a total of 5,006 units of vehicles in India. In comparison, the company’s sales during the same period in 2022 were 4,008 units. That is, their sales growth rate has reached double digits within a year.

Also, the launch of the new version of MG Hector and Hector Plus SUV earlier this year has also led to a boost in sales. This was the company’s first model in this country. MG made its India debut with this car in 2019. The car remains the company’s best-selling model till date.

Two of MG’s five models in the country are electric cars. Last month the company launched the three-door, four-seater Comet EV. With an ex-showroom price of Rs 7.98 lakh, it makes its debut as the most economical EV model. This is MG’s second electric vehicle in the country after the ZS EV. Besides the Comet EV and Hector, MG currently has in its portfolio – ZS EV, Gloster and Astor.
