The father of all SUVs! Mahindra hands over the keys to the market-shaking car in the hands of the Indian Army

Recently, the Indian Army has reported that 1,850 models of Mahindra Scorpio Classic will be commissioned. It is reported that the first batch of the SUV has been delivered this time. But this is not the first time, earlier this January also the Indian Army had ordered 1,470 units of Scorpio Classic.

Currently the vehicles used by the country’s army include – Tata Xenon, Force Gurkha, Maruti Suzuki Gypsy and Tata Safari. The addition of the Scorpio Classic this time around is expected to provide a bit more convenience in daily commutes. Mahindra may deliver a more powerful version of their Scorpio with a 4×4 powertrain. That is, it is the previous generation 2.2 liter engine, which will produce 140 hp.

Meanwhile Mahindra has updated the engine of their Scorpio Classic. The new 2.2 liter unit is 55 kg lighter than the previous one. It is capable of producing 230 Nm of torque at 1,000 rpm. Mahindra claims that the mileage has increased by 15 percent. The use of a cable-shift transmission in the new version has reduced vibration, according to the company. It has a 6-speed gearbox with rear wheel drive.

Mahindra no longer offers a 4×4 diesel engine in their flagship Scorpio. Its output was 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. The suspension setup of the new version has also been updated. All four wheels have MTV-CL dampers. The SUV model features cruise control, automatic climate control, cornering lamps, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, sunglass holders, fabric seats with diamond pattern etc.
