Royal Enfield is possible! Crowd in showrooms to buy expensive bikes, sales will surprise

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 hit the Indian adventure bike world in November last year. This motorcycle used a liquid cooled engine for the first time in the history of Enfield. Launched with features like twin spar platform and connected digital instrument console, the new generation Himalayan has been on the peak of popularity since its inception. Another recently released statistic puts the stamp on that popularity. Royal Enfield said they have managed to sell 6,500 units of the bike since its launch.

Royal Enfield is undoubtedly patting itself on the back by bringing such news. The company’s chief executive officer B Govindarajan said that 6,500 Himalayan 450s were sold in the first week of January this year. The production of this adventure bike will be increased in various phases in the coming days. Because production has to be kept ahead for delivery to the international market. However, no information regarding the number of bookings received by the Himalayan 450 has been released so far.

Incidentally, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is built on the all-new K series platform. They will launch more products using this same platform in near future. The Sherpa 450 engine is located in the atrium of this platform. In fact, the average speed of motorcycles on highways in different countries is 120-130 km per hour, which is much higher than our country. That is why the J series platform is reserved only for the small and pocket friendly 350 cc models. Compared to this, more performance and advanced technology motorcycles will be built using the K platform.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been launched in a new style to make up for the shortcomings of the Himalayan 411 model. The biggest change has been in highway performance. The new bike is powered by a 452 cc liquid cooled engine. Equipped with a six-speed gear box, this engine can produce a maximum power of 39.4 bhp at 8000 rpm and a maximum torque of 40 Nm at 5500 rpm. For suspension, the Himalayan 450 gets 43 mm wide inverted forks at the front and monoshock absorbers at the rear. Besides, the 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels are fitted with dual purpose tires.

Just as the Himalayan 450 is suitable for off-roading, it can also be used for daily work with ease. Currently, the price has gone from Tk 2.85 lakh to a maximum of Tk 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom). So far the bike has been using tube tires but Royal Enfield is going to bring tubeless tire option in India very soon. One thing is certain that the success of this bike will open the doors for more 450cc motorcycles to debut in the coming days.
