There was a time when the ability to buy an SUV in India was limited to a handful of people. But times have changed. Such cars have come within the reach of the middle class. Currently, the demand for mid-sized SUVs is the highest in the country. Seeing this, various companies are jumping into the segment. For example, French automaker Renault is planning to launch three new mid-size SUVs in India by 2025. A top official of the organization told PTI about this. Which includes two fossil fuel models and one electric vehicle. Currently Renault sells three cars in the country – Kwid, Triber and Kiger. In other words, a total of six models are going to be seen in the company’s portfolio within the next three years.
Renault is bringing three new SUVs to India
Renault India CEO and Managing Director Venkataram Mamillapalle said the company is coming up with various innovations in the segment. “Sales of the current three models will continue. Along with this, three new models will be added. They shall be more than 4 meters in length. Usually 4.3 meters can be.”
Mamillapalle said about starting preparations to enter the new segment, “Like we brought the Duster car, we hope to take entry in the new segment. Preparations for which have already begun.” The company is preparing to launch in the country’s market by 2030.
Incidentally, the cars currently leading the SUV segment in India include – Creta, Nexon, Seltos and Grand Vitara. So this time, Renault is bringing a new model to make its presence known more in that list. As a result, it goes without saying that the competition in the SUV market will increase.
When asked about the launch of the next generation Duster, the company said, “Duster is the inspiration for Renault in India. I can’t say when the car will be delivered. But we are about to enter this segment.” In February this year, Renault-Nissan jointly announced that they will invest 5,300 rupees in this country. The investment will be on the back of six new models from the two companies. Which includes two electric cars.
