Renault hits 9 lakh vehicle sales in India, 90% of models targeted for production in the country

French automobile company Renault has announced a new success in the car business in India. The company has touched the milestone of 9 lakh sales after 11 years of business in this country. Currently their lineup includes – Kwid, Kiger and Triber. Renault has attributed this success to regular vehicle updates, network expansion, technological innovation and customer service.

Currently, Renault has over 450 sales and over 530 service touchpoints in India. The company aims to expand its business to expand its service offering to customers. They are working on 90% localization of vehicles to increase participation in Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign. In this regard, Venkataram Mamillapalle, Managing Director and CEO, Renault India said, “We have strong plans for India by increasing localization in a big way.”

Renault’s Kiger and Triber – the pair have passed the Global NCAP crash test for adult occupants with four stars. The first has a 1.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine. Its mileage is 20.62 km/litre. And the Triber is powered by a 1.0 liter three cylinder petrol engine. It produces 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque.

The Kwid, the brand’s cheapest model, recently bagged the title of one of India’s best-selling sedans. The company claims that the car, priced at Rs 4,69,500 ex-showroom, is currently 95 per cent localized. At the beginning of 2023, Renault updated their lineup to meet the new emission and safety regulations. BS6 Phase 2 adds safety features like ESP, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control and TPMS.
