Renault India today announced production of 1 million car models in India. The 10 lakhth model is the red colored Kiger, which has already left the Chennai factory for showrooms. Their factory has an annual production capacity of 4,80,000 units. Which has played an important role in reaching this new milestone of the French company in this country.
Renault produced 1 million cars in India
The Renault-Nissan alliance has pledged to invest Rs 5300 crore to launch six new vehicles in the country. Ren has already invested in building a strong infrastructure related to vehicle manufacturing, technology. Currently three passenger cars are present in their Indian portfolio – Kwid, Kiger and Triber. They export cars manufactured in India to 14 countries including SAARC, Asia Pacific, Indian Ocean, South Africa and East Africa.
Every model has enhanced safety features as part of Renault’s Human First programme. As a result, the chances of damage in road accidents are reduced and overall passenger safety is increased. The list of safety features includes electronic stability program, hill start assist, traction control system, tire pressure monitoring system etc.
Incidentally, earlier this month, Renault introduced automatic versions of both its Kiger and Triber cars complying with BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. As a result, the current market price of the two cars is Tk 8.12 lakh and Tk 8.47 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Currently they have more than 450 sales and around 530 service touchpoints in India. Renault is currently working on 90% localization of vehicles in response to the ‘Make in India’ campaign.
