Redmi 9 will be unveiled in India on August 27, Redmi India makes the announcement through its official Twitter handle. An event page has been created for the smartphone on mi.com and it has been updated to show a countdown to the launch event, along with some of the teasers that showcase some of the specifications of the phone. Xiaomi originally launched the Redmi 9 in Spain in June but it came as Redmi 9 Prime in India.

As per the teasers, the phone is said to come with more RAM and more storage. Some reports suggest that the smartphone will be rebranded Redmi 9c or 9a but according to me it’s not because the event page on mi.com suggests that the smartphone may have a dual camera with a similar camera design as Redmi 9c. So, this means it’s not 9c because 9c has a triple camera setup and the camera design also suggests that it is not 9a.
The event page also showcases a notched display on the smartphone and states the phone will come with the company’s latest MIUI 12 and “HyperEngine Game Technology” for providing a seamless gaming experience. The smartphone is being teased to come with more RAM and more storage which means that the base model could be 3GB + 32GB and the top variant to be 4GB + 128GB.
Redmi 9A and 9C launched at the beginning of July in Malaysia at a base price of Rs. 5600 for 9A and Rs. 7500 for 9c for 2GB + 32GB variant. The launch event of Redmi 9 on 27th August will clear all the doubts about specifications or prices till then the teaser showdown will continue from the company’s side.
