Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G has been announced with Snapdragon X55 5G modem and supports up to QHD+ resolution at 144Hz. It is the upgraded variant of Snapdragon 865 which was launched last year. It has an enhanced Kryo 585 CPU prime core that is clocked at up to 3.2GHz.

As per the report, Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G is an octa-core CPU that is based on 7nm architecture. The chipset comes with 1x Kryo 585 Prime core clocked at 3.2GHz, 3x Kryo 585 performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and lastly, 4x Kryo 385 Efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The chipset supports up to a QHD+ resolution display at 144Hz and a UHD display at a 60Hz refresh rate.
Coming to the Graphics, Snapdragon 870 packed with Adreno 650 GPU. The chipset includes ISP that supports up to a 64-Megapixel single camera and up to a 25-Megapixel dual camera setup. The video capturing capabilities include 4K HDR at 60fps + 64MP burst images, 4K at 120fps, 8K at 30fps, Slow motion up to 720p at 960fps.
In terms of connectivity, Snapdragon 870 5G has an X55 modem, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, QZSS, NavIC, SBAS, and Dual-Frequency support. It includes up to 4 x 16-bit LPDDR4x RAM at 2133MHz and 16GB LPDDR5 RAM at 2750MHz. The SoC can provide downloading speed up to 7.5Gbps and 3Gbps uploading speed. Additionally, The chipset has Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ and Qualcomm Quick Charge AI support.
There is no information on which could be the first smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G SoC yet but it is expected that some popular firms like Motorola, Xiaomi, realme, and oppo may launch their flagship device with Snapdragon 870 5G in the first quarter of 2021.
