Okinawa Autotech is one of the leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers in the country. Last year the company hit the headlines by launching a new flagship model called Okhi-90 with motorcycle-like wheels and huge range. And today, after about 16 months, the updated version of the electric scooter has been launched. It comes with AIS-156-3 compliant battery pack, new generation motor and state-of-the-art connectivity features. Encoder system in the motor of the e-scooter will provide improved driving experience and easy servicing. The Okhi-90 has been priced at Rs 1.86 lakh (ex-showroom) as before. Delivery will start from next September.
Launch of new version of Okinawa Okhi-90 electric scooter
The new Okhi-90 offers color digital speedometer with built in navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, call and notification alert, time display, and music notification. Additionally the electric scooter will support mobile app connectivity, real time battery SOC monitoring and on/off notification.
Keeping the Indian roads in mind, the 2023 Okhi-90 scooter has been given a ground clearance of 175 mm. There is also a micro charger with autocut function and an electronic assist braking system with re-generative energy. The company claims that the battery-powered scooter will provide a range of 160 km on a full charge. The maximum speed is 80 to 90 km per hour.
Other important features of the scooter include GPS sensing, real time positioning, anti theft alarm geo fencing and turn by turn navigation assistance. The scooter can be connected to any smartphone through the Okinawa Connect App. Incidentally, Okhi-90 was launched in India in March 2022. Within a month, bookings for the scooter crossed over 10,000 units.
