Not only oil at the pump, but also this stuff, Tata announced in alliance with Hindustan Petroleum

Electric vehicle users need charging stations at some distance along the road, just like petrol pumps. Therefore, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited or TPEM has announced to take significant steps this time. They have signed an MoU with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited or HPCL for the convenience of customers. The objective is to install Tata Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at all fuel pumps of HPCL across the country.

Tata signed agreement with HPCL

HPCL has set a target of installing chargers in 5,000 pumps in the first phase by December this year. The state-owned company has a total of 21,500 petrol pumps across the country. Currently, Tata and TPEM have a 68% market share in the electric vehicle market.

Currently, Tata has four electric vehicles in its portfolio – Punch EV, Tiago EV, Tigor EV and Nexon EV. Currently, most charging points are located at customers’ homes or offices. It is very important to build charging stations in public locations to increase the use of EVs.

Incidentally, Tata Motors has recently inaugurated its first electric vehicle only showroom in Gurugram. So far HPCL has installed 3,050 EV charging stations. It also includes battery swapping stations. Debashish Chakraborty, Chief General Manager of HPCL commented that HPCL’s alliance with Tata Motors is very significant in developing and expanding the infrastructure of electric charging stations to reduce concerns about the range of electric vehicles.
