No tension of hacking! Now WhatsApp will login with fingerprint, FaceID, the new feature

Millions of people around the world are currently using WhatsApp for everything from messaging, online calling to payments. And keeping in mind the wrong number of users, the platform is often bringing new features, as well as giving importance to security-privacy. In that case, WhatsApp recently introduced a new security-related feature, ‘Passkey’, for iPhone users – as a result, iOS users will now have the easy option of logging into the app via fingerprint or Face-ID instead of a password.

WhatsApp has already brought the Passkey feature to Android

The advantage of WhatsApp’s pass-key feature is that it gives users the option to easily log in with biometric identification, i.e. options like fingerprint and Face ID, without the hassle of remembering any information, so users don’t have to go through a lengthy process. No six-digit password is required for login. Moreover, there will be no fear of app hack or password leakage and if you want, you can go to the messaging app and remove the pass-key whenever you want.

Incidentally, this feature is now being launched for iOS users, but Android users have been able to use it since October last year.

How to use the Pass-Key feature?

  • First, update the latest version of WhatsApp app on your smartphone.
  • Then open WhatsApp and go to the settings of the app and tap on the ‘Account’ (Account) option.
  • In the next step go to the Pass-key option from the Security section and tap on it and follow the instructions shown on the screen. You can set the password as you wish.
  • Note, this security layer will only be effective at login and will only be effective based on security systems such as fingerprint or Face ID.
