Missing the opportunity to buy cheap, Bajaj-Triumph increased both the booking cost and the price of the bike

Triumph wanted to take on companies like Royal Enfield, Harley-Davidson by launching their cheapest motorcycle Speed 400 in India. Britain’s company has been somewhat successful, though not entirely on that path. It is surprising to see the demand for bikes brought in joint venture with Bajaj Auto. Bookies crossed 10,000 within 10 days of launch. As a result the starting price offer of Rs 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom) has been withdrawn. As previously announced by Triumph-Bajaj, it will now cost Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom).

Triumph Speed 400 price hiked to Tk 2.33 lakh

Until now the Triumph Speed 400 bike can be booked for 2,000 rupees but this time it will cost 10,000 rupees. Powering the wheels of the motorcycle is a 398 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. From which maximum power of 39.5 bhp and torque of 37.5 Nm will be generated. It is available with 6-speed gear.

Suspension duties are handled by USD forks at the front and 7-step preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. For braking, there are two-wheel disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. While the Triumph Speed 400 will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan factory, sales and after-sales services will also be handled by Bajaj. The bike is being purchased from Triumph dealerships.

Triumph is aiming to have 30 by July from 15 dealerships in the country at present. This number will reach 100 by March 2024. Currently, interested buyers can book the Speed 400 from Triumph’s Indian website. Delivery of the bike will start in some cities of this country from the end of this month. However, the demand is so high that one may have to wait up to three to four months to get the keys to the bike after booking.
