The freedom to change gears through the clutch while riding a normal bike is not usually seen in the country so far in the case of electric bikes. There are many people who see gear shifting on a motorcycle as a different kind of fun. While they haven’t had any changes to the geared ICE bike so far, Matter has come to fill that void. The company has already launched Aera as India’s first geared electric bike. They claim that the advance booking has crossed 40,000 within a month.

Pre-booking for Aera started from May 17. That is, within a month, it has received a huge response.
Undoubtedly the biggest highlight of this battery operated bike is the four speed hyper shift gear. At the moment, orders are being placed on the company’s official website as well as on Flipkart.
Matter Aera: Motor, Battery and Range
Initially, Mater will give customers two versions of the Aera. These two are – 5000 and 5000+. Both variants share the same electric motor and battery pack. It has the ability to accelerate from a standstill to a top speed of 60 km/h in just 6 seconds. 10 kW output from the electric motor. A 5kWh battery pack is present as the energy storage, which, as claimed by the company, will provide a range of 125km on a single charge. The battery can be fully charged in 5 hours, but with a fast charger, this time will be reduced to 2 hours. Additionally, IP67 rating and liquid cooling system are available on both the bikes.
Matter Aera: Features
As mentioned earlier, despite being an electric bike, this bike made of matter has a manual gear box. Both models come with a four-speed manual gearbox as well as four different riding modes. The instrument console is handled by a 7-inch touchscreen LCD display. There is a processor with three GB of RAM to keep this display running. There is also a system for connecting mobile phones through Bluetooth.
Matter Aera: Breaks and Warranty
The Aera’s braking system will include disc brakes on both wheels as well as dual channel ABS as standard keeping the rider’s safety in mind. However, it is known that the connected technology facilities will be slightly different according to the variant.
Keeping customer satisfaction in mind, Mater is offering a 3-year and unlimited distance warranty on both versions of this battery-powered bike. Along with this, there is up to three years road side and battery assistance and three years AMC contract. The 5000+ model will also have several complementary care packages and connected packages available.
